***Adopted!*** Dottie

Dottie the chihuahua needs a new home. Dottie is about 8 years old. Dottie is quite small at only about 6 lbs. We were told she is housetrained and puppy pad trained. She will go outside unless you wait too long, in which case she will use a puppy pad. Dottie is a little timid of strangers, but once she warms up to you, she is sweet and sassy and cuddly. She is also very smart. She will make a loyal companion for whoever takes her home. She is used to living with other small dogs and cats and gets along great with either. She is currently sharing a kennel with her pal Georgia at the shelter.

She needs a mature home only; no small children please, due to the risk of accidental injury to her.

You can come meet her at the shelter during open hours, M-F 3-7 and Sat 11-1. No appointment necessary.

Georgia

Georgia

We had two new doggies arrive at the shelter today; a pair of Papillons that each need a new home.
Georgia is smaller than her housemate Chip, weighing in at only 6 pounds. She too is a Papillon, and is about 3 years old. She is very nervous of strangers, but once she trusts you, she is such the sweet and cuddly little thing. She loves to be held and to curl up on or near your lap; she really wants to be someone’s companion. She adores soft beds.
To help keep her weight up, it is good to feed her canned food in addition to her dry kibble. She, like Chip, loves the beef varieties. She is already housetrained and puppy pad trained.
Because she is so small and delicate, we want her to go to a mature home only. No small children, who can unintentionally hurt a tiny dog. Older, responsible children are okay.
If you are interested in adopting Georgia, you can fill out an application at the shelter or else online here: http://redwoodareaanimalshelter.com/adoption-agreement-and…/. If you have more questions, please call the shelter at 507-644-3853. She can be visited at the shelter anytime it’s open.

***Adopted!*** Little Willie

Little Willie will be ready for a new home in about two weeks (Around July 2.)

Willie

Little Willie is a purebred chihuahua that was born on May 15, 2017. (He’s about 9 weeks old now.) He is incredibly intelligent and very loving. He adores being as much a part of the life of his people as he can. As his foster mom, I can say that he’s been going everywhere with me. He seems to enjoy new situations and new people. He actually enjoys car rides. He loves to play in the grass, or play with the cats or with my own pup Gustav. He likes to chew on soft vinyl toys too, and to tug around stuffed animals. He also loves curling up in laps and napping with his person. He is a sweet and loyal dog who would make an excellent companion for someone who wants a dog around a lot to keep them company, and maybe baby him a bit. 🙂 He is consistently going outside or using his puppy pad for bathrooming. You just have to know if he wakes up, he needs to go pee. (He is a young pup, after all.)

Being a toy breed puppy, you do have to watch his feeding more carefully because toy breeds are more prone to hypoglycemia. Just make sure he eats enough, and frequently enough. A home experienced in toy breed puppies is preferred.

Because he is so small and delicate, and will likely not exceed 7 pounds, we want him to go to a mature home only. No small children, who can unintentionally hurt a tiny dog. Older, responsible children are okay.

If you are interested in adopting Little Willie, you can fill out an application at the shelter or else online here: http://redwoodareaanimalshelter.com/adoption-agreement-and-application/. If you have more questions, please call the shelter at 507-644-3853. Since he is being fostered, he is not always at the shelter. However, he will be there to visit for prospective adopters Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during open hours.

Honey

Honey needs a new home! This adorable, sweet gal has such a lovely personality! She is outgoing and friendly with anyone. We believe her to be mostly yellow lab, but the curly hair over her back also makes us think she has some Chesapeake bay retriever in her. She is young and energetic; we are guessing she is around 3-4 years old. She is small for a lab at only 60 lbs. Goldie has some strong tracking instincts; she loves to use her nose! She also loves exercise and being outside. She loves walks!

If you want to meet her to adopt, or if you just want to spend some time with her and give her a walk or some play time, you are welcome to come to the shelter M-F 3-7 and Sat 11-1. No appointment necessary. The shelter can be reach at 644-3853 if you have more questions about adopting her.
