Many of you who follow the goings on at the shelter I’m sure remember Jemma, the lovely, sweet calico cat who has been through so much over the last two months!

Jemma, taken April 2, 2019.

She was found hit by a car, which meant the eventual amputation of her tail. (Thanks again to everyone who helped to defray the cost of that surgery!) She’d had ear mites for so long that her ears were horribly infected and painful. We got that fixed up too. On top of that, she was discovered to have a rotten tooth which needed extracting. Due to tooth extractions being so dirty, the vet told us she couldn’t be spayed for at least three weeks after.

Well, as her spay date approached, it became apparent that Jemma was, in fact, pregnant. We were all amazed to learn that all her unborn kittens had survived their mother being hit by a car, having an amputation, and a tooth extraction! Four healthy kittens were born into foster two weeks ago.
