Tyrion is 113 lbs of friendliness looking for a home who doesn’t mind a pony sized dog. 🙂
He is only two years old, so he does still have a bit of filling out to do. We expect him to put on a little more weight before he’s fully grown.
He loves everybody! Every stranger is a potential new friend. He is friendly with other dogs, cats, and even chickens. If a cat swipes at him, he backs down. When he met a little terrier mix who growled at him, Tyrion’s response was to leave him alone. He loves children, though due to his huge size, he may unintentionally knock small children down.
Tyrion is an active young dog who still has some puppy energy to him. He is surprisingly easygoing on a leash; he pulls a little, but gives quite readily, and comes to your side if you call him. He does love his walks! He is very eager to listen and to please, especially if a treat’s involved. He’ll do anything for a treat!
He has already learned “sit” and “kennel up”. He is learning not to jump up on people, but if he gets really excited, he wants to put his paws up on your shoulders. He is taller than most people when he does that!
Tyrion is not at all food or toy possessive. He is happy to share. He just wants to get along with everyone.
He was born in early 2017.
The owners do not know what kind of a dog he is, but he looks like he could be an Anatolian shepherd or cross.
Tyrion will be neutered and updated on his vaccines as a part of his adoption fee. He has also been wormed, and treated with a topical flea/tick preventative (Vectra 3D).
If you are interested in adopting, please call the shelter at 507-644-3853. Feel free to stop in and meet him anytime the shelter is open, no appointment necessary: M-F 2-6 and Sat 10-Noon. Even if you aren’t looking to adopt, stop in and visit the dogs anyway; play with them, train them, give them a walk. The love it!
