Benji

Meet Benji! Benji is an energetic little terrier Heinz 57 mix. He is 11 pounds and young, probably around 2 years old. He was brought in by the Hector Police last Monday (July 9) as an impound, but the owner hasn’t come to claim him. He is now up for adoption as of Tuesday, July 17th. He is playful and opinionated. He gets along with cats and small dogs. He wouldn’t be a good fit for a home with young children, but older children should be fine. Call 507-644-3853 for more information or stop in the shelter to visit with Benji.

Update 7/20: Benji is still looking for a home! Gustav, a regular volunteer at the shelter (he’s the sable fuzzball) invited Benji to join him at Ramsey Park today, and Benji LOVED it! He really enjoys car rides, though he wasn’t content to sit in the back. He had to join Gustav up front. (He is an opinionated little fellow.) I think he would have preferred my lap, except I tied him to the seat so that he had to stay on his side. Sorry, Benji, I can’t have you distracting me while driving. And oh, once we reached the park, he was so excited! He couldn’t take in the sights and smells fast enough. We went for several miles all over the park. When we stopped at the overlook, Benji had to jump up and sit next to me on the bench for a bit. He really seems to like to be close to the people he trusts. He is really quite smart. He was already picking up on some of my signals just in the time we spent together in the park. With some time put into his training, who knows what he could learn!

Benji is a friendly little Heinz 57 terrier mix (your guess is as good as ours for breed!) He weighs in at 11 lbs. We estimate he is around 2 years old. He is young and full of energy! He enjoys the company of other small dogs, and seems fine with the cats he’s met. He can be intimidated by large dogs. We would also like to see him go to a home without young children.

Benji has a neuter appointment set up soon, which is included in his adoption fee. He has also been updated on his shots, tested negative for heartworm, wormed, and treated topically with a flea/tick preventative.

If you are interested in adopting Benji, please call the shelter at 507-644-3853 or else feel free to stop in during open hours, no appointment necessary. M-F 3-7 and Sat 11-1. Even if you aren’t looking to adopt, come on in and play with the critters. It makes their stay more pleasant while they wait for a forever home!

Quinn

Quinn

Quinn

Quinn

Quinn

Quinn

Quinn

Quinn needs a new home! Quinn is a sweet, sweet German shepherd/Siberian husky mix. (Both parents are purebreds.) Quinn is only 6 months old and already over 60 lbs; he will be a large dog full grown. He is a very smart and well mannered dog (for his age- he is a puppy!) His first owner took excellent care of him. He rarely left her side. The only reason he is at the shelter is that her health suddenly took a turn, such that she could not take care of a large breed puppy. He was very much loved, and it shows. He wants to be with people as much as possible. He is used to living indoors with his family, and we would like to see his new home be the same. He is very good about riding in a car. He is good with other dogs and kids. He will chase cats, though. He is a very good natured dog!

Quinn is a special needs dog. He was born with his right front leg attached to his chest, which his first owner had surgically fixed as well as it could. His leg is mostly functional, though does have some defects and will never be fully normal. (See the picture.) Quinn gets around great despite.

Quinn will be neutered shortly, and is up to date on his vaccinations, is tested negative for heartworm, wormed, and treated topically with a flea/tick preventative (Vectra 3D)

If you are interested in adopting, please call the shelter at 507-644-3853, or else stop in during open hours, M-F 3-7 and Sat 11-1, no appointment necessary. Even if you aren’t looking to adopt, feel free to stop in and play with Quinn or take him on a walk. He would love the attention while he waits for his forever home!
